The eye screen characterises all incoming mice with respect to their vision, understanding the eye as an own complex sense organ.

 Primary Screen

    • Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy – examination of the anterior part of the eye (mainly cornea and lens)
    • Funduscopy – investigation of the posterior part of the eye (retina and optic nerve head)
    • Laser Interference Biometry (LIB) – determination of eye size parameters (e.g. axial length)

Secondary Screen (5 – 15 mice per group and sex)

    • Electroretinography (ERG) – testing of the retinal function
    • Optokinetic Drum - vision test
    • Histology – morphological analysis of eye sections
